More Family Expansion
More news on the family expansion front. DC's little one is on the way. Chelsea has been in labor about 48 hrs, but we haven't heard word of an arrival yet. She is just a tiny peanut of a girl, probably 5'0" and 100 lbs., and the doc estimates the baby weighs 8.5 pounds. I can't imagine what she's thinking right about now. Just learned AK is expecting. No word on whether Grant will be joining the family. And I recently learned that MP and Guy will be getting hitched next fall. Posted by Amanda at 12:52 AM

Garden State
I love the movie Garden State and today I finally found a copy of the dvd to buy. I was watching it this afternoon and my parents and my sister kept making fun of it and asking "what the hell kind of pot smoking movie" it was. This from my dad who loves Steven Segal type stuff, my sister who can recite Napoleon Dynamite forward and backward, and my mom who would watch those HGTV Trading Spaces shows all day every day. They were in the kitchen being as loud and rude as they could. I should have yanked it out of the dvd player in the living room and watched it downstairs on my laptop. They just don't get it. There are so many fantastic layers of symbolism woven into it, but they are oblivious. I think it's fabulous and I love it. I'm a huge fan of Zach Braff. He rocks. Posted by Amanda at 12:07 AM

The thing about having random friends
I've gotten three invitations from friends in New York for parties tomorrow evening. How random are these. . . My friend Ingo owns a hot new lounge and they're having a strange shin-dig hosted by Janice Dickinson, the "first" supermodel. My friend Zev is DJing a massive "invite only" party of VIPs and New York socialites (or as I like to call them, plastic people). (i.e. One of those things where you don't get in if you're not dressed to kill and looking hot.) It's being hosted by Jenna Jameson. Enough said. And finally a party featuring live music from a little band called INXS. I will opt for staying in Wisconsin, eating turkey and pumpkin pie, and watching football. Happy Thanksgiving. Home Safely
My cousin returned from Iraq last week. His tour ended and he came out unharmed. Physically unharmed at least. I got a bunch of photos from a guy in his unit. They were unbelievable. What those guys witnessed and experienced during their two years over there would be enough to give me nightmares for life. I'm so thankful he's home. Unfortunately, because he's an enlisted officer he could be called up for another tour within six months. It would mean another year or two-year tour over there. I pray that doesn't happen. He's a single dad and his little girl has been through so much. She's grown up faster than any child should have to. Here's a picture from a couple weeks ago when she was the flowergirl in another cousin's wedding...

A real page-turner
Just finished reading James Frye's A Million Little Pieces. Simply put, it is amazing. I couldn't put it down. One word of caution: Don't eat anything while you're reading it. Once you start reading, you'll understand why. It reminded me of the time I sat down with a plate of chinese food and started watching Saving Private Ryan. Big mistake. Big. Shoveling
Spent most of today shoveling snow. Go figure, it was so warm that I was in a sweatshirt and tennis shoes. Now THAT's my kind of shoveling! I'd rather shovel the heavy wet stuff than the deep crystally bitter-cold stuff anyday. Posted by Amanda at 11:54 PM
