Am I the only person on earth that can't stand the Beach Boys?

2.7 Seconds on a Bull Named Fumanchu

Back at home again in the Midwest. Been soaking up the smell of clover and lingering beneath the trees whose leaves are already changing color.

All. Is. Beautiful.

Spam, Spam, Everywhere Spam

For those of you with Yahoo email accounts. . . You know the "Spam" button you can use to report spam to Yahoo? I have a new theory: I think the more spam you report, the more they let in to your account. It's a ploy to annoy you to the point of breaking down and buying their $10 a month account with SpamGuard.

I'm not going to send them anymore spam, just to see if my "spam per day" ratio goes down.

This Drives Me Nuts

To working women everywhere:

Unless your job title is Lifeguard, flip flops are in no way, shape, or form, appropriate footware for work!

This drives me nuts.

Every day I go to my office at Rockefeller and women are scuffling into the building wearing flip flops or those @#$%& mesh Chinese slippers. I want to smack them. Stupid stuff like this contributes to the plethora of things that build up until they become an invisible barrier between women and the top of the executive foodchain. Furthermore, it silently erodes the credibility of not only the person wearing said inappropriate article of clothing, but the people associated with that person.

Idea: Since we're paying for so many useless security guards across this city, while they're standing around staring at people, couldn't we just have them turn away people wearing flip flops?

The Things that Dreams are Made of

Congratulations, Will & Robyn!

beach.jpg

May many happy blessings
adorn your journey -
light like rose petals,
but strong as the ocean waves

May each day be as beautiful
as the day you wed
filled with laughter,
and family,
and friends.

betrayal

there were a lot of nights
driving home
- listening to sad soft music

sitting in the passenger seat
of that truck
staring at the dust
on the dashboard

a digital green reflection
against the window
I was looking out

trying not to cry
- or at least trying to hide
the tears that wouldn’t stop

I’d plead with every star
- wishing
that time would sweep me
out of that moment

- take me to where you were

I’m not sure he ever knew
or ever felt the extent
of the lacerating betrayal
- that happened nearly every night

he never understood
why I would change the radio station
so suddenly

- when the truth is
something came on
that was too painful to bear

something that tore open the facade
I spent years creating

in an instant
a song, a lyric, a chord
could rip the space between us
and placed you smack in the middle
of that bench seat

staring out the same windshield
- at the same gray endless ribbon of road

that held me hostage

as he drove us home.

Word of the Day

Solipsistic: 1) The theory that the self is the only thing that can be known and verified. 2) The theory or view that the self is the only reality.

You can quote me on this

Nothing can replace quality information on which employees in an organization drive earnings growth and which are a drag on the bottomline.

Because of Your Love

Today, I heard Kenny Chesney's song "Because of Your Love" for the first time. It just struck some kind of chord and I can't get it out of my head. . .

* . . . * . . . * . . . *

Baby I don't understand
How just the touch of your hand
Can make me feel invincible

With your arms all around me
When your eyes look deep into me
It's unstoppable
Baby, anything is possible

Everything I wanna be
Any dream I wanna dream
I can because of your love
Anywhere I ever go
With all of my heart I know
I am the man I am
Because of your love

Don't know how I lived before you
Now I live to explore you
Take me girl to your secret world
I could swim in your deep blue passion
I could feel your love come crashing
Over me, endlessly

Whether you're right by my side
Or whether you and I
Are a million miles apart
I can always feel you in my heart

Everything I wanna be
Any dream I wanna dream
I can because of your love
Anywhere I ever go
With all of my heart I know
I am the man I am
Because of your love
